Screening
Procedure for Nursing Jobs
-- RNs, LPNs, CNAs,
GNAs,
CMAs
Licensing/Certification
We will verify
your professional credentials to ensure that you possess the required
authority (including unencumbered licensing, certification or registration)
from the Maryland Board of Nursing to discharge your required nursing duties.
Therefore, you, as an nursing job applicant, will:
-
Provide evidence
that you have attended and graduated from accredited nursing programs
by providing
evidence of licensing or authorization by the Maryland Board of Nursing,
which by default, will imply satisfactory completion of an accredited
or recognized nursing program in the USA or abroad.
Your licensing and
credentialing status will be verified in the manner described below:
How We Will Validate Your Licensing/Certification Information
You will be required to submit ongoing licensing information that is enough
to be verified electronically through the Board (MBON) license verification
system, which is accessible through their Web site at www.mbon.org. As you
may be aware, the Maryland Board of Nursing has discontinued the printing of
all license & certification cards, as Effective April 1, 2007. Accordingly,
while the Agency may ask for copies of your academic credentials, we will
not ask for copies of the your licenses. Rather, we will utilize MBON’s
Look Up A Licensee function on their Web site to verify your
licensure/certification status before placing you at a client facility for
the performance of any nursing duties. Hence, you will be required to
provide the Agency your full names (as contained in your
credentials/licenses), as well as your license numbers and/or social
security numbers.
In the event of a system downtime with the MBON electronic license
verification system, or where the database is inaccessible, the Agency will
call the Maryland Board of Nursing at 410-585-1900 or 1-888-202-9861 or at
any other telephone number that the Board may provide, to verify your
credentials/licenses.
If verification is done online, a printout of the verification report will
be stored in your personnel files. If the verification was done by phone,
the Agency staff verifying the information will be required to make
hand-written notes of the verification activity, including at a minimum; his
or her name, the telephone number that was called, the time and date of
call, the name of the representative of the Board or professional body
supplying the information and any information received regarding the
credentialing/licensing status of the caregiver.
Printouts or notes, which you may submit shall not, by themselves, be enough
to establish your proper credentialing/licensing.
If Your Licensure/Certification Has Not Been Verified
The Agency cannot select or refer you to a client facility to perform
nursing duties, under any circumstance, if your credentials have not been
verified.
Revoked Licenses/Certifications
If your license or certification has been revoked, or is under
suspension, we will not select or place you in a client facility to perform
nursing duties, until you provide satisfactory evidence that such a
revocation or suspension has been lifted by the Board or the appropriate
Agency.
Reprimands or past suspensions or revocations, which have been fully
resolved, will not by themselves, preclude the Agency from selecting or
placing you on duty. The Agency will make the determination on a
case-by-case basis.
